Robert Lobe Inspired Aluminum Foil Tree Sculptures

I introduced my 4th grade students to contemporary artist, Robert Lobe this year.
He is an American Post-Minimalist sculptor who is best known for his cast metal, repousse trees. His work is very large scale. Since we have our art class in a trailer, we worked in a much smaller format!

Instead of trying to wrap real trees or branches with metal, we made small pipe cleaner trees and wrapped them with aluminum foil.

When the trees were finished, we stapled them to some black paper. The designs were simple but quite striking. It was a simple, quick, and mess free art lesson.
