* Out Of This World Homemade Outer Space Bean Bags!

I found this planet-themed fabric in my stash
today (actually two hours ago) and decided to whip up some homemade
bean bags for the girls to play with this week
for our final week of the Smart Summer Challenge!

The girls are having a play date with one of their favorite
neighborhood friends so I actually got 45 minutes to myself
to whip these up on my sewing machine -  Woo-hoo!

I was planning to make square bean bags
but "C" came into the art studio and informed me
that she thought they would be more fun if they were "planet shaped."
So, I cut around the shapes with my pinking shears
then cut a piece of fabric to fit on the back.

I stitched most of the way around each shape on the sewing machine
then we filled the bean bags with dried lentils.
I reinforced each bag by sewing around it three times.

I thought it would be fun to add some ribbons
and make some of the bean bags like comets or shooting stars.
So I sewed some of them with ribbons sticking out of one side.
It's fun to throw them!

Another Rainbow Comet!

Our finished planet and comet bean bags.

Now I want to go get our corn hole boards out of the garage
so we can get some target practice with our new bean bags : )

Come back this Friday and link up your fun projects from this week
and be entered for a chance to win some awesome prizes from our sponsors!
