Homemade Christmas Gifts: Felt Needle Book

I made most of my Christmas gifts this year. Making your own gifts is budget friendly,
planet friendly, and from the heart. If you read my earlier Christmas gift posts, you will remember that we have a lot of women in my family who sew.

These are some of the same wonderful women that I made those scrappy bookmarks and

I think needle books are so easy to make and useful for the recipient.
A perfect gift for grandmas, teachers, babysitters going off to college, etc.

This is a simple project that you can make with your own children, to keep or give as gifts.

Start with a few rectangles of feltwith a contrasting color for the cover. (We like to use the recycled Eco-Felt made from old plastic bottles from the craft store!)

Fold them in half, sew with a machine or by hand along the "spine" of the needle book and you're good to go!

You can decorate the cover with felt and button flowers, iron on patches, felt applique....the possibilities are endless!

I saw a really cute version of these years ago in Family Fun Magazine -- they made felt alligator needle books!
